Survive the Fire of Love
Rise from the flames
A golden chalice
Offer a drink to quench the flames
The thirst of togetherness
Like binary stars
To the one
Dealt you at party poker
Burn the cards
With the failing marks
An F for ego-laundryology
Award with your patience
A fireproof lasso of Wonder Woman
Both of you tie yourselves
And spring forth from your lips Truth
That you need each other
Hugging with the cold thawing of Spring
Against the fire of love.
(Let him or her read this…I just want to help, be your grinning Cupid in tights.)
Survive the Fire of Unrequited Love
Rise, rise from that sea of tears
That dread mountain falling over you
Crushing your sight of Now
Hailstorms freeze your heart
As you dream of what might have been
Use this Winter
To stay the impending tongue of fire
Fire your fireworks
I’m single again! (For all the world to know.)
Let not the flames embitter you
With third degree cynicism
But let the rain warm you to the world around
The world loves you
Just don’t let it hug you
Thousand tons of rock putting its arms around you is no laughing matter
Just fly now
A bee, a hummingbird, a butterfly
With a pail
And splash your friends with nectar
Nectar of your thoughts saying
I am free
I am here
I am loved
I am beautiful (or handsome)
I am enjoying this and that fire
I have the firehose and the fire hydrant
Dancing in the spray and clothes wet in the street, in the city sunshine. Mwah.
Consolation from One Who is Hurt
Hush now
Child of the love seekers
The love was born
It began
So it ends
How many times was I left behind
I cried alone in rooms windows shut
So that my neighbors
Thinking I am Cheery-O
Will not hear my sobs
Or my cries of: I bought her pizza, I waited while she fit them bikinis
Now all is lost
No I don’t want them to hear that
But I hear you
Let me hug you
Let me cry with you
Promise me this
After all this crying over spilled whatever
We’ll shop together like the Fab Five
I watch that too
